I'm Rie Aleksandra Walle
– founder of NoTies Consulting and the DPO Hub and co-host of the popular Grumpy GDPR podcast.

I only started my GDPR journey as recent as 2017 and didn't even want to back then - because I'm not a lawyer. But I only needed to pick up the legal text to realise this was my path forward. I've done little else since.
Today, I'm the Privacy Officer for Fathom Analytics (Canada) and Padlet (US). I'm former Fractional CPO for Quizrr (Sweden), external DPO for Postmark and Demio (US), and Emergency DPO for Kristiania University College (Norway). Over the years, I've worked directly with over 100 organisations in the Nordics, across the EEA and in Asia. I think it's fair to say I've done most under the GDPR. Hands-on, nitty-gritty experience.
As a volunteer for noyb since 2020, I've summarised 76 cases for their GDPRhub (first and only Purple status country reporter). This time-consuming, meticulour work has given me deep insights into how DPAs and courts deal with the GDPR, in practice.
I've read countless CJEU rulings – painstakingly building an Obsidian vault with all data protection-related rulings since 1969 (soon 300) – and since 2018 shared 692+ LinkedIn posts and articles with relevant updates.

I created the DPO Hub because I was fed up with EDPB’s messy website and InfoCuria’s awful search. And while the GDPRhub is great for research, summaries are done on a volunteer basis and prone to inaccuracies.
